Production & Workflow Management
- Oversee daily roasting and packing operations, ensuring efficient production and timely fulfillment of orders.
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
- Coordinate and assign tasks to roasters and packers, optimizing labor and machine utilization.
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistency and quality control.
Inventory & Supply Chain Management
- Track and manage inventory of green coffee, roasted coffee, and packaging materials.
- Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams to maintain proper stock levels and minimize waste.
- Implement a system for tracking lot numbers and batch production for traceability and quality assurance.
Equipment Maintenance & Workplace Safety
- Ensure proper maintenance schedules for roasting, grinding, and packing equipment to prevent downtime.
- Coordinate with technicians and external service providers for repairs and servicing.
- Implement and enforce workplace safety protocols, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Quality Control & Process Improvement
- Ensure that roasting and packing teams follow quality control checks for every batch.
- Work with the quality control team to conduct routine checks on roasted coffee and packaged products.
- Stay updated on specialty coffee trends, including origins, taste profiles, roast profiles, and brewing methods, to ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and reduce production waste.
Financial & Costing Management
- Be well-versed in calculating production costs, including green coffee costs, labor, utilities, packaging, and overhead expenses.
- Ensure proper tracking of production costs and analyze cost efficiencies to maintain profitability.
- Work closely with finance to report accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
People Management & Leadership
- Lead, train, and develop a team of roasters and packers, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve skills and productivity.
- Maintain clear communication between production staff and management.
Key Qualifications:
- Strong background in operations management, production, or supply chain management (F&B or manufacturing experience is a plus).
- Experience managing teams and production schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Knowledge of inventory management and basic logistics.
- Ability to enforce quality control and safety procedures.
- Basic technical understanding of machinery/equipment maintenance is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to operational challenges.
- Willingness to learn and stay updated on specialty coffee trends and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in cost tracking and production costing calculations.
Preferred Experience:
- At least 3–5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in F&B, food production, or packaging is preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) for inventory tracking and cost management is a plus.
