The Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personal safety.
The Safety Officer ensures that the site Safety & Health Plan is prepared and implemented.
The Safety Officer creates and implements health and safety policies in accordance with the latest legislation and to ensure that these policies are implemented by management and employees.
Responsible for ensuring awareness, complying with, and enforcing the GMC Food Safety and Quality Policy.
Compliance with occupational safety and health policy, reporting any unsafe act/conditions in the workplace, and ensuring safety practices are adhered to.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures proper maintenance of the Plant Safety Facilities.
Assists all Departments in understanding job hazards and safety precautions.
Ensures that all equipment and machineries are in good working condition and free from any accident hazards.
Makes sure that all employees of the plant remain safe from potentially hazardous conditions.
Ensures that all safety devices of the plant are well maintained and in good operating condition such as fire pumps, fire extinguishers, and other firefighting accessories.
Implements wide safety programs as required by DOLE and other regulating agencies.
Oversees the creation, review, and refinement of GMC safety policies and practices.
Investigates serious or minor accidents of injury or property damage to ascertain cause and need for corrective action, develops and implements measures and strategies to prevent recurrence in order to meet long-range loss-reduction goals.
Assists the pollution control officer to ensure compliance with DENR and other program regulating agencies with regards to environmental standards.
Ensures good housekeeping rules inside the plant.
Coordinates interface relationships with concerned units, sections, or departments regarding project and safety pollution matters.
Secures work permits.
Prepares monthly reports, statistics, and analysis.
Conducts Safety Audits on each Department as part of the Internal Quality Audit Team.
Conducts regular Safety Drills for all employees.
Ensures safety and maintains strict security on port as part of International Ship and Port Facility Security.
SPECIFICATIONS
A. Minimum Educational Qualification
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety) or equivalent.
Have undergone Construction Safety and Health Training (COSH), Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training (BOSH), and 48 hours of advanced safety training.
B. Experience
At least 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Preferably with supervisory experience.
Preferably with 1–4 years experienced Employee specializing in Engineering Environmental/Health/Safety or equivalent.
C. Skills/Competencies
Good communication and listening skills.
Capability to work long durations and under pressure situations with willingness to work on holidays as required.
