Overview of Your Role

To provide technical support to Affinity business lines in terms of underwriting group accounts, pricing group and health insurances, and coordinating and negotiating to reinsurers for reinsurance support incidental to these risk assessment activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Product Profitability. Contributes to the management of the Affinity's loss ratio by strictly adhering to the established underwriting guidelines and pricing standards of the department and Pioneer Group when evaluating new and renewal insurance applications for complex risks and/or developing insurance products/solutions to ensure that only the desired and profitable risks forms part of the Affinity's and Pioneer's risk portfolio.

·       Experience Management. Provides excellent service to customers and clients, and communicates proactively with internal teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations of the team.

·       Process Management. Delivers the following processes and activities consistently according to agreed-upon quality standards and turn-around time:

• Product Profitability:

  • Conduct of comprehensive risk assessment and evaluation of insurability for prospective group accounts, including the design of plan benefits and the recommendation of appropriate underwriting strategies, loading assumptions, and pricing.

  • Development and application of competitive premium rates for proposed and renewal plans, ensuring alignment with profitability targets and compliance within authority limits.

  • Review and interpretation of claims experience data and profit and loss statements to support the recommendation of renewal pricing and terms for group accounts.

  • Review and validation of insurance contract provisions and endorsement terms to ensure alignment with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives.

• Stakeholder Management:

  • Handling of inquiries and requests from internal clients (Affinity Accounts Sales and Affinity Group Underwriting Support) and external stakeholders (reinsurers and captive representatives), particularly those requiring technical analysis and underwriting judgment.

  • Coordination and negotiation with reinsurers on facultative placements and special underwriting transactions to secure favorable terms for group accounts.

  • Provide the data for Affinity Group Underwriting Support’s proposal generation tasks and systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Actively contributes to policy and guideline discussions, offering insights and recommendations based on their expertise and experience.

• Analyzes raised concerns within their area of expertise, resolves them independently when possible, and escalates complex issues to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.

·       Data Management.

• Complies with data and document management standards and procedures in handling documents and data, as well as offer assistance to junior team members on document management best practices, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the team's records and databases.

• Produces accurate and timely reports according to specifications while observing the SLA and the data and document management standards and guidelines.

A Bit About You

• Candidate must be a graduate of BS Statistics, BS Applied Mathematics, BS Mathematics, BS Industrial Engineering or any STEM related undergraduate course with several calculus-based statistics courses (at least 9 units);

• At least 4 years of relevant work experience for which 2 years are management-related experience;

• Strong proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications and Excel VBA;

• Willing to be assigned in our head office in Makati Office.
