The Cost Engineer will assist the Cost Manager in managing and controlling project costs from inception to completion. This role involves supporting cost estimation, budgeting, and cost controls to ensure that construction projects are delivered within the approved budgets while maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. 

Responsibilities: 

1. Cost Planning Support 

• Assist in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates and budgets for all phases of construction projects. 

• Help monitor and track any budget inefficiencies or deviations, including those arising from design changes, implementation challenges, and business-related decisions. 

1. Tendering Support 

• Assist in the preparation of contract packages in collaboration with the Procurement and Construction Management departments. 

• Prepare and organize bidding documents and forms. 

• Provide bid tabulations and evaluations to assess completeness and cost efficiency. 

1. Contract Administration Assistance 

• Aid in ensuring that contracts are complete, signed, and executed 

• Provide support during the contract execution phase ensuring concerns raised are addressed on a timely manner. 

1. Cost Management and Controls 

• Assist in implementing cost control systems to evaluate claims and variations effectively. 

• Track and process progress claims and payments, ensuring accurate financial documentation. 

• Assist with cash flow forecasting and disbursement monitoring 

• Support the monitoring of contract and construction progress to ensure the timely completion of work in line with cost objectives. 

1. Project Close-Out Support 

• Assist with the preparation and issuance of final accounts. 

• Monitor and manage warranty and defect liability period claims. 

• Help with construction cost close-out activities 

1. Risk Management Support 

• Assist with bonds and insurance management, ensuring that all necessary coverage is in place. 

1. Documentation and Record-Keeping: 

• Ensure that all records are accurate, complete, and stored in a systematic manner for easy access 

• Update all project folders and reports regularly 

 Qualifications:

1. Education: 

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. 

1. Experience: 

• Minimum of 1 year experience in construction, cost engineering, construction cost management, or quantity surveying. 

1. Soft Skills: 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work. 

• Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to collaborate and work well in teams. 

• Proactive and eager to learn in a dynamic environment.
