VIRGINIA FARMS INC. is the oldest and currently the biggest integrated farm-to-pork swine business in Central Visayas, which started in 1968 as a venture to raise chicken and hogs to supply the growing need of food supply for the owners’ shipping company. Today, from a backyard venture, the farm expanded to its 360-hectare property in Asturias, Cebu with a family of over 900 people all working together to achieve the company’s vision to be the best supplier and preferred brand of quality pork in the Philippines. The farm’s produce are then sold through the company’s retail brand – The Pork Shop. In order to realize its vision, the company has invested in facilities that will ensure delivery of the best quality pork meat products to the customers. These include the Meat Cutting Plant in Maguikay, Mandaue City and Virginia Slaughterhouse and Meat Plant, which were established in March 8, 2016 and October 8, 2019, respectively. Virginia Farmers Solutions was also established in July 1, 2017 to partner with independent farmers as contract growers and breeders to support the growing requirement of hogs especially with the aggressive expansions of The Pork Shop. There are more projects in the pipeline for this half-a-century old company, all aligned to realize its vision to become the best supplier and preferred brand of quality pork in the Philippines.
