Job Description

The Associate Lawyer is responsible in providing legal counsel to the company and to our clients, ensuring compliance with all local labor and employment laws, and managing all employment claims against the company. The Labor Associate Lawyer must ensure that generally accepted labor policies and procedures are complied with; internal controls are adhered to; terms of the service level agreement are consistently met, efficient workflows and best labor practices are adopted which affect its operations as a business process management company engaged in projects that are registered with PEZA and/BOI.

Your Team

You will report directly to Genfinity’s Head of Legal and will oversee the labor and employment aspect of the Legal and Human Resource Department.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for handling and responding to day-to-day operational queries on labor-related and employment matters of internal and external clients.
  • Represent the company and its client with labor-related disputes, including cases of wrongful termination, discrimination and wage and hour matters. This includes preparing, reviewing, and analyzing contracts, position papers and handling follow-ups and discussions with different government offices such as DOLE, NLRC, SSS, PHIC, HDMF, and others.
  • Apply knowledge of changing labor laws, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific concerns to client engagements, identifying potential impacts and reflecting these in client work. Handle evaluations, risk assessments, and provide legal counsel on various complicated labor-related problems and issues.
  • Use knowledge of Labor law to discuss key issues with clients, management, and other team members, including assessing conflicting, ambiguous, or inconclusive authorities.
  • Conducts thorough research to support and protect the Company’s interests and legal position in relation to legal and factual issues that are the subject of pending or threatened litigation.
  • Maintain confidential records and labor-related information for clients.
  • Research and analyze labor laws, and conduct internal training sessions for HR staff and Operations, as well as external training for client stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
  • Strong knowledge on labor and employment laws and regulations within the Philippines
  • At least two (2) years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Filipino and comfortable talking with foreign clients.
  • Must have a long-term plan to work and grow with the company
  • Has good interpersonal relations.
  • Has high level organizational and managing skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Experience in dealing with government agencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Willing to work in Makati City and travel from time to time to Iloilo and Cebu.
